2019 was the great year with historical and emotional moments of our organizations as well as of the business relations between Germany and Vietnam. The GBA thanks its Members and Friends for a thriving year

The year 2019 is another successful year for the German Business Association. We continue to grow when looking at the number of events, participants, corporate partners and last but not least the number of members. When we celebrated our 20th anniversary 5 years ago we had 191 members, our 25th anniversary year 2020 we will start with 291 corporate and individual members. With your support we have arranged, organized and co-hosted 42 business, sports, social and cultural events so far this year with more than 11,000 participants both in HCMC and in Hanoi. Apart from festive and networking events we will continue to be your voice and advocate in Vietnam.
Finally, we would like to inform you that on Monday, 13th of January 2020, the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the GBA will take place in Ho Chi Minh City and in Hanoi. The GBA Board will report on the activities and the accounts for their period of governance at the AGM and the new GBA Board will be elected. We wish you and your families a festive holiday season, a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2020!

Vietnam: "Training and Education" Delegation to Vietnam, 09 - 13 March 2020

The program will take place from 09 to 13 March 2020 in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City in order to introduce German products, services, solutions and technologies to Vietnamese partners, in order to improve the understanding, connection and technological transfer between companies of two countries. In addition, networking events, company visits and B2B matchmaking forums will also be organized by GIC/AHK Vietnam.

Festo Southeast Asia holds its first press conference in Vietnam in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City

On 28 November 2019, the German supplier of automation technology and technical education held a press conference for the first time in Vietnam to raise brand awareness and engage the Vietnamese media. Management representatives from Festo shared insights into its latest developments in the areas of digitalisation and Industry 4.0, as well as its strategy and core competence in Vietnam.

Vietnam's Import-Export in the 11 months of 2019

Vietnam’s foreign trade is forecast to hit US$ 500b at the end of 2019, according to the General Statistics Office of Vietnam. In the first 11 months of the year, the country’s foreign trade exceeded US$ 473.73 b, with exports reaching over US$ 241.42 b , a year-on-year increase of 18.1 percent. Exports from domestic firms, which accounted for 31 percent of the total, grew 18.1 percent, while that of FDI firms expanded 3.8 percent.

Vietnam's FDIs in the 11 months of 2019

US$17.7 billion in foreign direct investment (FDI) (new registered capital) had been disbursed in 2019 through November 20, a 7.2% increase from one year earlier, according to the Ministry of Planning and Investment’s Foreign Investment Department.

Vietnam News: Vĩnh Phúc urged to produce skilled workers

Marko Walde, Chief Representative of the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Vietnam (AHK Vietnam), said in Vinh Phuc investment Promotion Conference that German companies and European investors “need people with proper vocational training” in mechanics, electronics and other industrial production fields. He also gave his recommendation and suggestions to Vinh Phuc People Committee on how to attract more German FDI in this province.

Vietnam to become “super-aging” country by 2050

VNA: Vietnam will become a “super-aging” country by 2050 partly due to falling birth rates in all six socio-economic regions and ethnic minority groups. The country needs to have a health care strategy and ensure good health for the elderly during their life circle, especially initial health care, preventive care, medical and non-medical care, health care services at home and in the community. Fostering medical tourism on the agenda of health ministry conference

Vietnam News: According to the Ministry of Health, a total of 89,000 foreigners came to Vietnam for medical reasons and 10,100 underwent treatment in the period.Most of the patients, from Cambodia, Laos, China, the U.S, the Philippines, and Australia, consider the quality of healthcare in Việt Nam good. Read more here >>>

Print Industry Summit 2019 in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City

This event organized by Print Promotion and GIC/AHK Vietnam - took place with the participation of more than 300 local Vietnamese companies in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. Marko Walde, Chief Representative of GIC/AHK Vietnam delivered a welcome speech and 8 leading press manufacturers from Germany presented their Industry 4.0 and packaging printing solutions with a special focus on drupa 2020.

GBA Monthly Meeting at InterContinental Saigon with special Christmas twist      

On 2 December 2019, the last Edition of the GBA Monthly Meeting in 2019 attracted over 70 participants, to learn more about "The Impact of Chinese investments in the region and China+1 strategies" It was prepared by the GBA Chairman Mr. Thomas N. Debelic. Besides singing the traditional German Christmas Song "O, du Fröhliche" after the Presentations as a festive surprise, our German Consul General Dr. Josefine Wallat attended as our special guest. The final edition of 2019 ended at SKYXX - Garden & Lounge with good drinks and conversations.

GBA Football Cup 2019 challenged the over 100 Players with extra hot weather

The GBA Football Tournament celebrated it’s third Edition this year at a new Location and attracted 114 players with their friends and families to Sala City. One Highlight of this venue, access to the beautiful Pool area was definitely a blessing, as the temperatures demanded everything from the brave Players. The Cup went to the team of GBA Board Member and Rieckermann Division Manager Matthias Ehrtmann.

Henkel Vietnam opened its Adhesives Technical Center in Bac Ninh province, Vietnam, 11 December 2019

This technical center should be a innovative lab center using high-tech and Industry 4.0 technology to train its customers and partners on their latest innovation and technology. Marko Walde, Chief Representative of GIC/AHK Vietnam stated: “This new investment project of Henkel Vietnam shows the commitment of Henkel and also of the German companies in creating value added for Vietnam and local businesses here.“

Evonik @German Business Incubator Vietnam

Evonik-Delegation with 12 representatives in Asia visited our German Business Incubator Vietnam yesterday. Bjoern Koslowski, Deputy Chief of GIC/AHK Vietnam informed them on the current economic development of Vietnam, the chances and challenges once the FTA between the EU and Vietnam comes into effect.

Fundraising Art Reception by Lotus Art Project, Museum of Fine Arts, 97A Pho Duc Chinh Street, District 1, HCMC, 10 January 2020, 7PM-10:30PM

Attend a unique New Years Art Reception with live music performances and a Vietnamese art exhibition on the 10th of January 2020 at the Fine Arts Museum in Ho Chi Minh City. Local artists will be showcasing their artwork for the future and wellbeing of underprivileged children in Vietnam, more specifically in Hue and Cam Duc. The main beneficiary will be the Rock-Paper-Scissors Children’s Fund which offers music and art lessons to kids living in impoverished conditions. Admission fee: VND 500,000.
