Highlights of the month

New Project: Services for German Healthcare Industry in Vietnam

In August 2019, German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) has officially appointed a contact person in GIC/AHK Vietnam to support and connect German small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the healthcare industry. This contact person will support them in terms of market entry process and business development in Vietnam. Our functions are to provide information about economic policies, legal regulations and frameworks in the healthcare industry in Vietnam as well as the market prospect, including demands, opportunities and challenges of this industry for German SMEs. We also assist German SMEs with connecting with Vietnam’s government, ministries and agencies in the healthcare industry as well as with business networking between two countries. Furthermore, GIC/AHK Vietnam will organize German business delegations in the healthcare industry to Vietnam to directly meet potential partners, conduct seminars and specialized healthcare workshops with the objective of connecting, exchanging experiences and improving the cooperation between businesses of the two countries. Vietnam: Workshop: "Logistics Vietnam - Germany – Opportunities through EVFTA" in Ho Chi Minh City (11 September 2019) and in Hanoi (13 September 2019); 03pm – 05pm

Vietnam News: Việt Nam making strides in workers' rights

Deborah Greenfield, Deputy Director-General for Policy at the International Labour Organisation (ILO) said: "I want to congratulate Việt Nam on ratifying convention 98 on the right to and collective bargaining and organising. This is really a landmark for Việt Nam in its ambitious efforts to really integrate itself into the global economy. The country's done a remarkable job in its efforts to revise the Labour Code. We know that there is more work to be done but, you're on a quite a sustainable path to achieving the results of true reform."

Vietnam News: Credit package for supporting industries in Vietnam

The Ministry of Industry and Trade will propose to build a credit package of VNĐ 100 trillion (US$4.4 billion) for developing the support industry for industrial sectors, especially automobile production. This credit package will focus on the automotive, electronics, textile, footwear and material industries but not the basic industry being machine manufacturing.

On 19 August 2019, Mr Marko Walde, Chief Representative of GIC/AHK Vietnam and our AHK Academy Team were in the graduation ceremony of An Re Mai Sen, one of our partners in education and training in Vietnam. The first meeting with new Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Vietnam

GIC/AHK Vietnam and GBA Vietnam welcomed Dr Guido Hildner, the new Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Vietnam in Hanoi office on 22 August 2019. The very first meeting between the new Ambassador and representatives of German businesses in Vietnam.

Dr. Wallat, the new General Consulate of Germany in Ho Chi Minh City, has visited our office in Deutsches Haus Ho Chi Minh City on 09 August 2019. Ho Chi Minh City: Technical Seminar for wire and cable industries, 09 August 2019

Panel discussion on wire industry in Vietnam and the future development of this sector took place today in Ho Chi Minh City, with the participations of 10 German experts and more than 150 local companies in Vietnam, organized by German Industry and Commerce Vietnam and Messe Düsseldorf Asia. Korea: DEinternational regional meeting, 25 - 26 July 2019

The regional meeting of DEinternational services of all German Chambers of Commerce in Asia took place in 2 days to brainstorm and create new ideas and concepts for better supporting German companies in Asia.
