Highlights of the month

EU-Vietnam FTA signed on 30 June 2019 in Hanoi

Once the EU-Vietnam FTA takes effect, over 99 per cent of tariff on goods from both sides will be lifted. Vietnam will remove 65 per cent of import tariff on goods from the EU. Moreover, this agreement will bring exchanging information on custom requirements; investing in the modernization, simplification of customs procedures and ensuring transparency of all custom requirements.
New market access opportunities across a range of sectors will be also created thanks to EU-Vietnam FTA. EU and German companies can enjoy protection of investments with trade facilitations and increase investments in Vietnam. More benefits please see in the infographic here >>>

Vietnam continues to be an attractive destination of investment for German businesses

According to the result of AHK WORLD BUSINESS OUTLOOK SURVEY 2019, German businesses in Vietnam maintain positive view with the economic expectation as well as with their situation in Vietnam and they look forward to a bright 2019 and 2020.

Germany is the most important partner country of Vietnam in the EU in 2018

The total trade volume between Germany and Vietnam reached 14 billion EURO and there are more than 328 German FDI projects in Vietnam with the total investment capital of 2 billion US$. The top German export products to Vietnam were machines, vehicles and chemical products.

Germany remains the largest coffee import market of Vietnam in 2019

Germany is the largest coffee import market of Vietnam since years. Also in the first half of 2019, Germany imported coffee from Vietnam with the total value of US$ 211 million (~13.2 per cent of the total export value of coffee in the H1, 2019). Find our infographic here >>>

HCM City co-working office space market developing strongly

The flexible office market in HCM City comprising co-working and serviced offices is among the fastest growing in the Asia Pacific, market researchers said. Speaking to Viet Nam News, a Savills executive said the co-working segment in HCM City had grown at 90 percent a year for the last two years and had around 37,000sq.m to rent, mostly in the central area.
This growth was impressive compared with other markets in the region like Singapore and Hong Kong, he said.

The logistics outlook in Vietnam 2019

The logistics industry in Vietnam is expected to grow by 12-14% in 2019 thanks to its favourable strategic geographical location, consistent economic growth and strong trade development, along with the international economic integration and the successful signing of free trade agreements (FTAs), most recently are CPTPP and the EU- Vietnam FTA.
According to the World Bank Report on Logistics Performance Index (LPI) published on 24 July 2018, Vietnam ranked 39 out of 160 participants from other countries, up 25 ranks compared to 2016 and stood currently at 3rd place among ASEAN countries. Find our infographic here >>> 

Vietnam fruit and veg exports rise 5 per cent in H1 2019

According to Vietnam Economic Times, Vietnam’s vegetable and fruit exports hit US$ 2.08 billion in the first six months of 2019, up 5 per cent year-on-year. China remained the leading market of Vietnam’s fruit and vegetable exports, accounting for 72.6 per cent of market share with more than US$ 1.3 billion, an increase of 3 per cent in value against the same period last year.
Other major markets of Vietnam were the EU (US$ 60 million), ASEAN (US$ 59 million), the US (US$ 58 million) and the Republic of Korea (US $55 million). Find our infographic here >>>

Textile sector in Vietnam and EU-Vietnam FTA opportunities

EVFTA enables brighter outlook for textile sector in Vietnam in the long run. However, EVFTA stipulates stringent requirements on the origin of products. As a result, more concerted attempts must be made to increase the localization rate and capacity of domestic firms. 
The EU was the second largest export market of the Vietnamese textile industry with its export turnover from EU markets reaching more than US$4 billion in 2018. Find our infographic here >>>

E-commerce market in Vietnam 2019

The Vietnam's e-commerce achieved an impressive result in 2018 with the total trade value of US$ 7.8 billion, with the year on year growth of 30 per cent.
The Vietnam's e-commerce market is predicted to boom in the near future, given that 53 per cent of the population uses the internet and nearly 54 million people use smartphones.

Soccer: Pierre Littbarski in Vietnam

VTC 10 has conducted lately a documentary film on current Vietnamese soccer development and the prospect of German Vietnamese soccer cooperation in the near future. 
In this film, the representative of VfL - Wolfburg football club Mr Frank Steinmann and the legend German football player Pierre Littbarski shared some of their activities with the aim to cooperate and support Vietnamese football clubs, furthermore, to train young and women football players in Vietnam. Dual Vocational Training in Vietnam

Dual vocational training project with VinFast with main majors of mechatronics and industrial engineering

VinFast Training Center was established on 7 th February 2018 and is in the VinFast automobile production project complex invested by Vingroup, located in Hai Phong. The first training program also officially began with 200 students in 2 main majors of Mechatronics and Industrial Engineering. After 28 months of training, students will receive certificates of dual vocational training according to the standards of the German Chambers of Industry and Commerce DIHK, which offers them the opportunity to work at VinFast automobile and electric motorbike factory and also in industrial enterprises across the globe.

Hai Phong: Baden-Wuerttemberg delegation visited VinFast, 04 July 2019

The business delegation in the automobile industry of Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany visited VinFast and met Vo Quang Hue, Deputy CEO, Vingroup and VinFast team.
The delegates have experienced the modern automobile factory of VinFast with 1,200 robots and many digitalized production lines in there. VinFast targets to manufacture cars with “Vietnamese identity – Italian design – German technology” in Vietnam. More pictures here >>>

Ho Chi Minh City: Opening ceremony of the representative office of the German state Rheinland-Pfalz in Vietnam, 02 July 2019

This ceremony took place in our German Business Incubator Vietnam, Deutsches Haus Ho Chi Minh City. Mr Marko Walde, Chief Representative of GIC/AHK Vietnam and Ms Daniel Scheetz, Deputy Consul General of German in Vietnam congratulated and delivered opening remarks in this special event.

Hanoi: Baden Wuerttemberg business delegation visited Le Group, 05 July 2019

Le Group, a local leading supplier manufacturing steel-based parts for automobiles and scooters in Vietnam, started as a family company in 1979 in Vietnam. Their main customers are Ducati, Toyota, Piaggio, Honda, Mitsubishi Electricity. Their revenue 2018 was 71 million US$.Ms Theresa Lan, Deputy CEO is welcoming the delegation and looks forward to cooperating with German companies in designing as Germany has high technology in many fields.

Ho Chi Minh City: 5th year Anniversary of BOSCH Automotive R&D Center in Vietnam, 02 July 2019
