Business Opportunities in Canada for German Companies in Industry 4.0, Hannover

November 29: CGCIC, joined by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) is organizing a one-day seminar on "Business Opportunities in Canada for German Companies in Industry 4.0". Experts from Canada and Germany provide information on the target market and on legal and tax subjects, as well as answer questions on intercultural competence and on Canadian business practices.

Official Delegation from the City of Frankfurt,Toronto

Sept 4-11: In collaboration with the City of Toronto, CGCIC set up a delegation for the City of Frankfurt. Officials from the Department of Planning & Housing, the Department of Environment & Women and two of Frankfurt’s Deputy Mayors, Ms. Rosemarie Heilig and Mr. Mike Josef,  visited Toronto to learn more about urban planning.

Saxony Delegation visit, Toronto & Montreal

Sept 9-14: CGCIC hosted a business delegation visit for participants working in government agencies, research institutes and companies in the life science and smart energy, smart mobility and smart cities sector from the Free State of Saxony. The delegation, under the lead of Deputy Premier and Minister for Economic Affairs, Labour and Transport Martin Dulig, visited various research institutes, think tanks and universities.

Baden-Württemberg Delegation Workshop, Toronto

Sept 20: In partnership with the State of Baden-Württemberg, CGCIC organized an interactive event and workshop highlighting the fields of smart mobility and automation. The bi-national workshop brought  German and Canadian leaders in business and science to a common platform, allowing for a free flow of discussion and innovation. The delegation was led by the State of Baden-Württemberg Minister President Winfried Kretschmann.

Canadian Pavilion at WindEnergy Hamburg, 2018

Sept 25-28: The Canadian German Chamber of Industry and Commerce presented a Canadian Pavilion at the trade fair WindEnergy Hamburg 2018. The pavilion offered German industry players the possibility to connect with companies from the Canadian on- and offshore wind industry.

Lower Saxony Trade Delegation Visit, Ottawa, Toronto, Vancouver

Sept 30-Oct 5: CGCIC and the State of Lower Saxony  a week long political and economic delegation across Canada to promote Canadian German bilateral trade and understanding. The delegation visited high profile government representatives and a number of leading Canadian organizations and businesses in Ottawa, Toronto and Vancouver. The 45 individual strong delegation was led by Minister-President Stephan Weil and other leading German political representatives.

Canada and the US reach new NAFTA deal !

Sept 30: After more than a year negotiation Canada and the United States reached an agreement, alongside Mexico, on a new  trade agreement, called the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA). Read full MacLeans article here.
EUCCAN Market Access Barrier Survey

This Survey is being conducted as part of the EU funded CETA Market Access Program for EU Business, one of the key aims of which is to identify existing market access barriers in Canada on both federal and provincial levels, and to provide recommendations to the EU Institutions, EU business associations, networks and chambers for defining adequate mitigating strategies.

Oakville voted Canada’s best place to live, 2018

The results of the 2018 Canada’s Best Places to Live ranking voted Oakville as the number one city. Oakville managed to beat out Ottawa by scoring high in a broad range of the areas examined by the Best Places to Live ranking, placing in the top 25 per cent of all cities in six out of 10 categories.
