Myanmar Newsletter

Dear reader,

Welcome to the July edition of our Myanmar Newsletter!

On 4.7.2017 the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce co-organized a luncheon with Konrad Adenauer Stiftung and GMBC with Dr, Michael Fuchs in Yangon. The luncheon was well attended and Dr. Michael Fuchs presented his views on “Criteria for Investments of German SMEs in Foreign Countries”. It was an excellent networking event and the lively Q&A was used as a platform to emphasize the specific challenges of German Companies in Myanmar.

The Delegation of German Industry and Commerce travelled to Germany to attend “Asien Pazifik Forum” in Fürth on 5.7.2017 and “Wirtschaftsforum Asien-Pazifik” on 7.7.2017 in Cologne. Both events were very well attended and many German companies used the opportunities to discuss in separate sessions to learn more on challenges and opportunities of doing business in Myanmar.

We again selected the most interesting news of this month for you and feature a very interesting project of Bosch in our “insight” section.

Yours truly,

Martin Klose,
Delegate of German Industry and Commerce in Myanmar

Beauty Beneath: Bosch promotes road safety in Myanmar with creative initiative

Road and traffic safety is a topic that affects each and every one of us in our daily lives. In Myanmar alone, roughly 13 people die every day due to road traffic accidents. As a global supplier of mobility solutions and advocate for road and vehicle safety, Bosch recently came up with a simple yet creative idea to drive road safety awareness to road users.
In collaboration with Myanmar's leading contemporary artist Arker Kyaw, Bosch transformed an old building wall on Bayint Naung Road in Yangon's Mayangone Township into an urban street mural featuring a road safety message: "Please be careful when you drive". The message and art featured on the wall were created using Bosch's high-pressure power washer. The "Beauty Beneath" initiative is a part of Bosch's ongoing "We Help Make a Difference" branding campaign in Southeast Asia. In order to learn more about the initiative please visit their website orFacebook.
